A cowardly officer is on paid leave after assaulting a teenager during a traffic stop. The officer even had the nerve to claim the teen assaulted him. Unfortunately for him, it was all caught on video.
The Lampasas, TX Police Department claims to be investigating a Twitter video showing a Lampasas County Sheriff’s Deputy punching a teenager in the face, but the girl did not start recording her video until after the officer started his assault. The dashcam video from the police car shows the officer choke slam the teen to the ground and punch him in the face at least 10 times.
Lampasas County Shierff’s Deputy Logan Jones stopped the vehicle driven by 18-year-old Quinton Cruce of Lampasas after a report of an erratic driver, according to KCENTV
After being assaulted by abusive police, Cruce was arrested for interference with public duties, resisting arrest, assault of a public servant and driving while intoxicated. He has since bonded out of jail.
There were two passengers in the vehicle as well. One of them was Gage Blackwell, 18, who was also arrested for assault of a public servant, resisting arrest, interference with public duties and being a minor consuming alcohol.
The third passenger in the vehicle was a 17-year-old named Sydney, who posted the video
to Twitter. She said the situation turned violent quickly when police chose to use excessive force on her friend Cruce, who was supposed to graduate high school Thursday.
Sydney told KCEN-TV that authorities threatened to arrest her, too, for “interfering.” She said the arresting officials went so far as to call her a ‘dumb b—-‘ and even threatened to arrest her father, who was not there.
“The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a video that has been circulated on social media,” Sheriff Jesus Ramos said in a press release. “The sheriff’s office has contacted the prosecutor’s office and has requested the assistance of an outside law enforcement agency to review and thoroughly conduct the use of force in making these arrests.”
As expected, following the assault by the officer, the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Jones was placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
This aggression cannot be allowed. The people’s outrage over incidents like this are being heard. Help spread the news of this so this officer will actually be held accountable instead of allowing him back on the streets. He needs to pay for his crimes and abuse of power!
