Media Silent as Trump Tells CIA “We’ll Get Another Chance” at Invading Iraq and Stealing Its Oil

Media, News, War

Trump may have just signaled his administration plans to invade Iraq. In Trump’s speech at CIA headquarters, he starts talking about how America got out of Iraq wrong and “we should have kept the oil”. After the CIA in attendance laugh at what is not funny at all, Trump shockingly states: “maybe we’ll have another chance”.

In another part of the speech, Trump says, “we’ve been fighting these wars longer than we’ve ever fought, we have not used the real abilities that we have, we’ve been restrained.”

You can see the video clip below and listen to the full speech here.

Trump is the President now and is not in campaign mode. Does he plan to invade Iraq for a third time just as the two previous Republican Presidents did?

    > Authorities are also pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.

    > An official with knowledge of the make-up of the crowd says that there were about 40 people who’d been invited by the Trump, Mike Pence and Rep. Mike Pompeo teams. The Trump team expected Rep. Pompeo, R-Kansas, to be sworn in during the event as the next CIA director, but the vote to confirm him was delayed on Friday by Senate Democrats. Also sitting in the first several rows in front of the president was the CIA’s senior leadership, which was not cheering the remarks.

    > Officials acknowledge that Mr. Trump does have his supporters within the CIA workforce, many of whom were interspersed among the rank and file standing off to the president’s right.

    • “They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.”

This was just refuted by Sean Spicer, Trump’s press secretary.

    > Pool reports later clarified that the attendants who were cheering and clapping when Mr Trump spoke were not CIA staffers but people who accompanied Mr Trump to the briefing.

Your article erroneously states that the CIA staff were cheering and laughing for Trump’s speech. They were not.

    • You’re missing the point of this article, but regardless, there is no way to tell who is laughing by watching the video. From your link:

“Donald Trump delivered a rambling, boastful speech in front of 300 CIA staffers Saturday in an attempt to win over support in the intelligence community.”

      and later in the article:

“Pool reports later indicated that attendants who were cheering and clapping when Mr Trump spoke were not CIA staffers but people who accompanied Mr Trump, Washington Post fact-checker Gary Kessler wrote on Twitter. He later clarified that it was unclear exactly who the people were, but senior CIA members standing in front did not react until the end of the speech.”

      • I thought the point of all articles was to report the truth. Perhaps you are missing the point. Even with “unclear who the people were” it is unfair to characterize the CIA as being enthusiastic accomplices of Trump’s bluster. You were not there, now you are buying in to Trump’s propaganda engine, and you are spreading his lies as if they were your own. Trump is bad enough that you don’t have to lie to make him look bad, but you absolutely damage your own credibility. Fix the article. You can continue your anti-Trump agenda without lying.

        • We stand by this article. There’s nothing to fix.

The White House press secretary Sean Spicer just said during today’s briefing that the people in the front were CIA people and not brought in by Trump.
