Disgraced California Highway Patrol officer recently pleaded no contest to charges that he had stolen cellphone videos from female arrestees.
The now-former Officer Sean Harrington admitted to this much. He says that he did in fact steal the photos from two women and forwarded them to his own phone as well as those of friends.
But for him, he said it was a “game.”
The 5-year police veteran said that he had done the same thing to arrestees a half dozen times. Harrington was charged in two cases but prosecutors explained that there were many other victims. They say he admitted to stealing photos from at least four to six other arrestees in the past few years.
“I’ve fully cooperated with investigators and done everything asked of me to try to make this right,” Harrington tried to rationalize. But the victims weren’t hearing it.
“I apologize to my family, my wife, my friends. I apologize to officers everywhere and especially to the two women involved. I’m trying to put this behind me and move forward from this. I hope now that everyone else can too,” Harrington read from his prepared statement.
