There is a lot of concern growing among Palestinians as a 60-day crowdfunding campaign intended to finance the construction of a modern Third Temple on the Temple Mount has generated over $105,000 in donations from over 900 donors around the globe. The $105,000 amount was garnered by Rosh Hashanah, last week, according to the Temple Institute. But this was just their first wave of crowdfunding for the Third Temple project.
According to the group’s official statement, its crowdfunding campaign received the donations from 30 countries and will continue similar campaigns to raise the necessary funds for such a project.
“The funds raised from the campaign will be used to continue the research of the Institute and to commission additional architectural plans,” the group said. “The architects will fuse Jewish law with modern technology to prepare for a fully modern Third Temple, Kosher to the letter of the law…”
The extreme right-wing organization’s website featured a three-minute promotional video which depicted a digital walk through of the planned Third Temple.
Rabbi Chaim Richman, the international director of the institute, explained that his organization implemented the crowdfunding option after initially finding a lot of fundraising success with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media.
“We are constantly looking for ways to include as many people as possible in our mission to rebuild the Holy Temple,” Rabbi Richman said. “This is not about one group or organization – it’s about bringing about a spiritual reunification of mankind. Today, with the help of the Internet, our message is resonating across the globe.”
He added that the group’s plan to design, fund and build a new temple began three years ago and that they are “just getting started.”
There is no word on how they plan to make this a political reality since the State of Israel says they have no plans of allowing such a project on the site holy to both Jews and Muslims alike.
