Israeli Defense Forces are said to have just bombed an `Eid al-Fitr celebration, following the month long daylight fast of Ramadan, in a park near the beach in Gaza City.
The bombing has resulted in the killing at least 10 Gazans including eight children, according to medics.
The park is located in the al-Shati refugee camp. The strike was said to have been carried out by a drone.
Eyewitnesses on the scene, including international aid workers who were celebrating with local families at what they believed was a “safe” zone, said that 40 were also injured in the strike. Some in Gaza have begun calling this attack the “Eid massacre.”
No Hamas fighters were anywhere within sight.
The IDF, however, has said that this was the result of a “failed rocket attacks” launched by Hamas, even though the drone was scene by nearly all witnesses at the scene of the bombing.
Hamas does not possess any aerial drones.
Israeli Government Coordinator in the Territories Yoav Mordechai went one step further, saying that the rockets were launched by Islamic Jihad.
