Back on December 1st of last year, Adam Patrick, 30, Michael Geldrich, 36, and Michael Watson, 39, robbed, beat, raped and murdered 16-year-old African American Dione Payne.
The Dayton, Ohio area youth was ultimately ignored by media, only to have his name dragged through the mud by local media after alternative media forced the issue to the forefront on social networking sites. Now, Patrick has been sentenced for his role in the robbery, beating, rape and murder of young Dione Payne.
Patrick is the second of the three men to admit guilt in the Warren County Common Pleas Court. Judge Robert Peeler immediately sentenced him after he conceded that he had at least engaged in the aggravated robbery of the juvenile.
Back in May, Michael Geldrich, 36, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, as well, in addition to aggravated robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. But the important charge of rape and a second charge of kidnapping were dismissed because Geldrich had agreed to testify against Patrick and their third co-defendant, Michael Watson.
Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell who was pressured by community outrage to even file rape charges said that Payne was beaten with a table leg while he slept on a couch in Geldrich’s residence on Vernon Street.
Patrick had also been staying at the residence with Geldrich, when Geldrich planned to rob Payne by putting a pillow case over his head, wrapping his limbs in Duct tape and finally stealing money and drugs from the Dayton area youth.
For his part, Patrick loaned Geldrich his truck for the crimes. While he was not there throughout all of the events that transpired, he was in nearly constant contact via cell phone throughout it all.
Surveillance video from Atrium Medical Center positively identified Patrick’s truck, leading Franklin police to arrest Patrick, Geldrich and Watson.
Apparently the judge only thinks that the life of 16-year-old, African American, Dione Payne is only worth 11 years. If you’re outraged, pass it on…
